About

Humanism is a democratic and ethical life stance that affirms that human beings have the right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to their own lives. It stands for the building of a more humane society through an ethics based on human and other natural values in a spirit of reason and free inquiry through human capabilities. It is not theistic, and it does not accept supernatural views of reality. – IHEU Bylaw 1.2

So first things first. Who are you?

My name is 王章恺(wáng zhāng kǎi), but you can just call me Darren. I’m a 17-year young teenager in Malaysia (the country above Singapore). As you may have inferred from the blog title, I’m a humanist. A Secular Humanist, to be exact. Most of my free time is boring my family and friends with philosophical arguments and “intellectual” talk, reading non-fiction, writing blogs, losing my soul to 9gag, and scaring people away with even more philosophy. Guess that makes a nerd, eh?

What’s the blog about?

Humanistic Perspectives is a place I created to express my views and thoughts on everything, from the scientific discoveries, alternative medicine, to the abortion debate. I also hope that it will become a place where everyone can get together debate geeky stuff, so if you have anything on your mind, do talk about it in the Comments section!

    Hey there :D

I’ve stumbled upon your posts and old blogs awhile back. I wanted to go ahead and say that I have really enjoyed reading all of the things you have had to say and your philosophical arguments. Your posts on “Problems of the Soul” Were particularly eye opening to me.

I admire the value you have placed on science and reason, and your quality of writing is top notch and eloquent. (I feel all derpy by comparison). It’s been great going through the mind of another critical thinker.

    Stay Awesome,

    -Raymond

    P.S: A fellow 9gagger too? awwww yeahhhh
